Jaldapara was declared as a sanctuary on the year 1941 for the preservation of a wide variety of flora and fauna especially the one-horned rhinoceros which is an endangered animal. The sanctuary also offers extensive grasslands that are the home to a variety of amphibians and reptiles. The place is a paradise for bird-watchers.
It is one of the very few places in India where you will be able to spot the Bengal Florican. Some of the other variety of birds found here are jungle fowl, peafowl and partridges. You can take the famous elephant safari and explore the wildlife.
